As early as 1940, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. had begun to realize the importance of the prestige, goodwill and cooperation of women who were not eligible to be members of Greek-letter organizations.
In 1948, a group of women organized to assist Zeta Phi Beta Sorority members in whatever capacity they were needed. They chose the Latin name, Amicae (friends) for their auxiliary. The first auxiliary charter was issued to Lambda Zeta Chapter of Houston, Texas. The first undergraduate chapter to present an auxiliary was Kappa Alpha Chapter of Miner Teachers College, Washington, DC on February 23,1949, during Kappa Alpha's Finer Womanhood Program.
Today these auxiliaries have rendered invaluable service to the Sorority and their communities. They are located in areas where there are active graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Zeta Amicae of Omicron Phi Zeta Chapter was chartered on January 17, 2024 by ten amazing and talented women who desired to be of service to the Sorority and community.
